Home Study Pending

Sorry for the long moment of silence on the blog. We have been working to get our home study finished so that we can travel to Nashville to have our fingerprints taken for the INS. Last week we received the invitation to come, but we have to take our completed home study with us when we go. So far, we have everything but a few documents, and we hope to have it all in place for Mary and Peggy to review before we leave. We are shooting for next Thursday. Please pray that we can have everything ready by Thursday. Time is ticking and we want to be the best stewards of the pocket the Lord has given us. Again, the results can take 6-9 weeks. April is just around the corner!

A bit of a shock came to us this week when we found out that another couple, who have already had their dossier logged in China, announced that they are PREGNANT!!! In the initial handful of paperwork, candidates for adoption have to sign a pregnancy statement which basically says that you understand that if you get pregnant during the process, your paperwork is frozen. Once a couple enters into the world of adoption and all that the actual process entails, becoming pregnant is bittersweet. Thankfully, just last month, a change in administration in Grand Rapids (Bethany's Home Office) has considered a change in this policy. It looks, as of now, that once a family's dossier is logged into China, it is so to speak "unfreezable". However, the validity of this is still pending. For the Apps, it was exciting news, but a reality check. They want to continue with the adoption, but Michelle is due in August. They had anticipated traveling to China in August or September!!! Sooooooo........it looks like David will be traveling alone to bring their daughter, Hannah, home. Their other two children are so excited:)

Keep praying. It's so exciting to see how the Lord unfolds His plans:) Love you all!

If you haven't listened to it already, you should listen to the song, Sweet Amelia, at http://www.myspace.com/igrace ...it's beautiful!

Even 3 1/2 years after bringing Anna home from China, all of the thoughts and the remembering God's working still bring tears. God is good!

I went and heard it today! It's always good to hear a new song from Sandra McC, but that was great. I didn't know the Twits adopted. (Long-time IG fan) Thanks for sharing.

Swept Away by Geoff Moore (on his A Beautiful Sound CD) remains our favorite adopting song. Written for his daughter from China....

We would say your name
a hundred times a day
like speaking words in faith
and with a mixture of
hope and fear and trust
we prayed for strength to wait
and dreamed of how we'd feel the day
you'd be in our arms and...

Swept away
caught up in our love
Home to stay
you'll never be alone
you'll be amazed
at how much you are loved
your life will never be the same
you've been swept away

What one was just a dream
is now reaching up for me
and I hold her in my arms
Lord, thank you for the way
you held her all those days
that we had to be apart
and now I see the impossible dream
is holding me, and I'm...

Swept away
caught up in Your love
Home to stay
I'll never be alone
and I'm amazed
at how much I am loved
life will never be the same
I've been swept away
